Gareth returns to Academy

Gareth has retuned after working awy sometime and is now our Official wrestling coach.


Gareth has a very high standard of wrestling and spent 8 years in the USA training this fantastic art which is a brilliant sport but will also help the guys in their MMA competitions

Dave Takes Silver

Dave Chapman done us proud by taking silver in the grappling tournament recently.


Dave was the only guy to enter from the academy and again proved what we are about.

2010 Training Camp

2010 we are holding a training camp trip to Thailand where anyone from the Academy is welcome to come along regardless  of experience and we are sure you will have a great trip and learn lot and will be wanting to sign up for the next years training camp, wherever it may be held!

Checkmat Success

Congratulations to Black Belt's Monstro and Eduardo who competed in the Scandanavian Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament this weekend, Monstro won Gold in his division and Bronze in the Open Class and Eduardo won Gold in his division and Silver in the Master's Open Class.


This is brilliant news and helps to spread the word of our affiliation and team around the globe, Ooossss!!


 

Carl Kinslow Fights For Title

Carl Kinslow is fighting for the European Amateur Middleweight Championship on 15th November at the Amadeus Night Club.


Carl has had 7 MMA bouts now as well as boxing bouts, K1 bouts, No-Gi grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitions and having great success in all these disciplines.


On the 15th we all know Carl will fight like his life depends on it and do everyone at the academy proud and we are sure he will win


 

Monstro and Eduardo in Scandinavia

Black Belt BJJ practitioners Monstro and Eduardo are flying to Scandinavia this weekend to enter the BJJ Competition and we are sure they will do well.


Recently Monstro flew over to Switzerland to take part in the Swiss European BJJ Championship in which he won a Gold and Bronze medal.


Gold was won the Open Absolute Division and Bronze in his own Divison.


 

Checkmat Medway Grading

10th October was the day of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu grading and this time a few guys were awarded their grade accordingly.


There were 4 Blue Belts awarded and some stripes were also given out!

The guys who received these were as follows:

All the guys received the whipping which consists of a human tunnel and as the new grades walked through the tunnel everyone whipped them with their Gi Belts! Dave Chapman decided to walk through with his top off whilst everyone really whipped him.


Congratulations to all the guys and the whole team must really train hard and work towards the next grade


 

BJJ Grading

On Saturday 10th October all practioners of the Checkmat  Medway Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are required to attend for the grading at the Combat Sports Academy.


The class is at 12 noon to 1.30pm

All students should enter this competition if they are wanting to compete in the future.


These are great fun but very competitive and there are medals and prizes for all who win, best submission, best throw.


The event will be filmed and available on DVD for all to watch.


This is our 3rd series in the club challenge.

Vemola Returns To Train

Karlos Vemola will be training every thursday evening again for some sparring sessions with the Medway Submissions Team at the Combat Sports Academy.


Karlos trained every week prior to his last fight where he destroyed the highly rated "CRAZY BEAR" and enjoyed the sessions so much he will be put through the same routine for his next fight !


 

Combat Sports TV

Combat Sports TV is now available for all to watch and will be aired on a regular basis as a pre recorded show plus there is also live recordings.


The 1st broadcast will be 28th August at 6PM-7PM and will broadcast live!

Get Ready To Rumble

We have 6 guys fighting out of the Combat Sports Academy representing Medway Submissions on 17th October when the all compete at the City Pavilion in Romford.


David Chapman, David Howell, Danny Pashley, Jake Marley, Ricky Campbell and Carl Kinslow are all getting in fighting shape as they prepare to enter the CFC arena.


Danny Pashley, David Howell and Jake Marley are all making their MMA debut and are expected to do well and prove again we are the best MMA and Grappling team around!

Campbell Drops For Stribling


Ricky Campbell has dropped a weight division for the tough Scott Stribling and both fighters will battle it out on the 17th October.


Campbell fought as a heavyweight on the last CFC event and put his opponent away in around a couple of minutes as where as Stribling dropped his opponent with a strong leg kick in the opening seconds of round 1.


Capmbell will be dropping weight to fight in the Light Heavyweight division and Stribling will be his first hurdle.


Both guys like to strike and both hit hard so this will genuinely be a great even fight which may well pan out to be the fight of the night.

CheckMat Medway Make Podium


Checkmat Medway from had a great day and out of the 5 guys competing 3 took medals, Mick Hall took gold ,Carl Kinslow took Bronze after been defeated by Mick, Dave Chapman took silver.


There was a huge mistake with the organisers and Lee Pressman and Pete Hocking were not entered even though we paid for their entries!!


Well done lads and keep training hard!
